Blood Tests

Blood Tests

Blood tests are quick, simple, and widely used to:

  • Assess your general health.
  • Detect infections.
  • Monitor how well certain organs (like the liver or kidneys) are functioning.

What to Expect:

  • A phlebotomist will take a small blood sample, usually from a vein in your arm.
  • For children, blood is often taken from the back of the hand, with numbing cream applied beforehand.

How long will my results take?

The timeframe varies depending on the test. Your clinician will give you an estimate when the test is arranged.

What should I do if I don’t hear back?

Call the practice after 11:00 am if you haven’t received your results within the expected timeframe.

Unregistered Patients

If you are not registered with Broadmead Medical Centre:

  • We will direct you back to your own registered GP if you live locally.
  • If you are on holiday or temporarily staying away from home (e.g., with a registered patient or at a hotel), we can book you as a temporary resident.

Managing your tests through your own GP ensures better continuity of care, including follow-up for any abnormal results or ongoing management.
